“YOU ARE A DIFFERENT STORY, Cannolo Murolo. I can’t leave someone like you alive,” Kocaqi said coldly, walking toward Murolo while holding up his umbrella.

Groaning, Murolo slowly backed away. He did not want to turn his back to Kocaqi. He was afraid of taking a fatal blow from behind, so he was unable to shift gears to make a break for it.

“You knew, didn’t you? That Risotto Nero was a traitor. You then set him up to fight Diavolo, ensuring that neither side winning affected you.” Kocaqi continued to approach Murolo. “The only reason Risotto’s team even opposed Diavolo was to seek revenge for their teammates who were purged because they tried to dig up the boss’s identity. But I know that the one who leaked intel to Sorbet and Gelato in the first place was you, Murolo.”

Murolo made a noise in his throat.

“You push dangerous tasks onto others while you look on from safety. You stir the pot needlessly and help yourself to any leftovers once the dust clears, never once taking responsibility for your actions.”

“U-urghhh…”

“This world is a twisted place because of people like you. And I, Vladimir Kocaqi, will now put an end to that warped life of yours.” The old man pointed at Murolo’s hat. “What’s the matter? You have your vaunted weapon in there, don’t you? I can tell by your movements that you’re hiding something in there. Is it a gun, a knife, or maybe a bottle of acid? Whatever it is, go ahead and use it.”

Murolo groaned, face contorted in agony. He knew what would happen too. When a person is about to use a weapon, they will always be careful. If the weapon is a gun, careful not to shoot themselves; if a knife, careful not to cut their own hand. However, the mere thought of that meant Kocaqi had his number. If he tried to attack, he would be digging his own grave. How was he supposed to fight a foe like this?

Sheila E. was out of commission, and Murolo was in dire straits. Were they bound to fail their mission?

At that moment, the faint sound of thunder echoed from the distance. It was so far away that the rumbling was faint and muffled. However, the clouds floating in the sky were producing nothing more than a light drizzle. And, because this rain was Kocaqi’s ability, there should not have been any other weather phenomena tied to it. Just as Murolo processed this information, Kocaqi also caught on to the sound.

Rumble rumble rumble rumble grm grm grm grm…

Kocaqi gasped. Something dawned on him and his eyes widened in surprise. “N-no, it can’t be…” The old man quickly swung his eyes toward the cloudy sky from where the rain fell. The sound was also coming from there.

Grm grm grm grm grm grm grm grm grm grm grm grm…

The sound that was supposed to be distant thunder continued unabated, only growing louder and louder.

“It can’t be!”

Grm grm grwooooooooo…

The sound was not only growing louder—it was getting closer.
